Each frame has the allocated notch where the aluminium flat bar ( stringers ) are inserted, which primarily gives the strength to aluminium vessels. The stringers are placed throughout the framing, allowing for the accurate spacing of the frames, and also allowing for the hull plating to be welded to them.
