Rick Matson, Managing Director of Legend Boat Builders, has been involved with aluminium boat building since 1977, when SBF commenced operation in Western Australia. Since 1993, Rick has been perfecting the design, construction and performance of each and every Legend vessel built. Perseverance has seen this small WA owned company develop into theWorld's leading builder of aluminium vessels under 25 metres.  

Rod Rutherford, Finance Director of Legend Boat Builders, joined the company full time in January 2002, however has been involved with the company since it's inception in 1993. Rod udertakes the day to day administration of the Company.

Legend Boat Builders has the most experienced yet modestly young production team of any boat builder in Western Australia. With over 60 years experience between them, they have been involved in the industry since it's early infancy.

Getting started as an Aluminium Fabricator or Welder in this world leading industry is a difficult but rewarding career pursuit. Once involved within the industry, many opposition companies are always chasing your staff to meet production deadlines.

Legend Boat Builders skilled workforce commences with the hiring of young, school leavers, wishing to make their mark in such a world leading industry, right here in Western Australia.

Studies are undertaken at Challenger TAFE, Henderson, a short 5 minutes journey from Legend's premises.

Legend now has 4 apprentices / trainees ranging from 1st to 4th Year of study. They are 4th Yr Ricky Lindsay 3rd Yr Owen Dawe, 1st Yr Richard Eradley and Rodney Collard (Trainee).

New Application should be forwarded in April and October each year.

Legend Boat Builders is the leading manufacturer of first class quality Commercial Aluminium Fishing Vessels worldwide, and is continually looking for experienced aluminium welders and fabricators for our busy Naval Base premises.

These are permanent employee positions. (No Sub Contract)

Fabricators/Welders are currently earning between $19.00 and $27.00 per hour plus adjusted penalty rates for PAYG employees.(Superannuation/Workers compensation coverage provided)

Apprenticeship applications should be made in October and April, each year.
